Balzan scored two first-half goals to cruise to victory as they maintained their pristine start to the season.

Balzan completely dominated possession and created a succession of chances, with Angel Yesid Torres Quinone continuing to find his feet in the Premier League.

Balzan kept the same formation as in their previous game vs Zebbug R with the exception of Captain Paul Fenech replacing Aidan Jake Friggieri.

On the other hand, Santa Lucia had three changes from the team which lost to Gzira as Dylan Ciappara was preferred to Matthew Calleja Cremona while Nicholas Pulis and were replaced Reon Saito and Jamie Zerafa and Francisco Rodrigues Farias

Balzan took the lead on the 14th minute when Milan Djuric intercepted the ball following a pass by Jurgen Pisani for Miguel Alba, serving MATHEUS NOGUREIRA ALBUGUERQUE DE SOUZA who had plenty of time to hit low past goalkeeper Dylan Ciappara.

In the 25th minute, Balzan doubled the score when Angel Torres concluded a good move by serving UROS LJUBOMIRAC inside the area and the latter hit home past Ciappara.

Angel Torres, having an immense physique, was a handful against the Santa Lucia’s defence. Just past the half-hour, his long-range effort was saved with difficulty by Ciappara with the aid of the crossbar.

After the break, Balzan picked up their tempo once again. Angel Torres threatened again after 50 minutes with his menacing run ending with a shot just wide off Ciappara’s far post.

Two minutes later, an Angel Torres low free-kick that evaded every Santa Lucia defender, had ‘goal’ written all over it but Ciappara managed to get a touch to the ball.

Soon after, in a swift counterattack by Santa Lucia, Miguel Angel Alba shot wide after being served by David Valpoort down the middle channel.

Balzan eased off and Santa Lucia had a chance to score when in the 66th minute the ball fell to Francisco Rodrigues but he could only see his shot finish over the bar.

Having survived Santa Lucia’s best spell of the game, in the 75th minute, Balzan hit them with Milan Duric coming off worst in his personal duel with Dylan Ciappara proving hard to beat. The young goalkeeper denied the Milan Duric twice in quick succession.
