Balzan found no difficulty in overcoming Sirens with a result of 3-0 at the National Stadium Ta Qali.

This was the first win in over five weeks after collecting just one point from the previous three matches, losing to Birkirkara and Naxxar Land rescuing a point in a draw with Gudja.

Balzan joined Birkirkara and Hibernians in sixth place on 13 points, on the other hand, Sirens remain anchored at the bottom of the table with just two points, three behind Gudja and four behind Santa Lucia.

Sirens started on the right foot as in the 3rd minute they had their first attempt from outside the box through Frank Boateng with goalkeeper Rudy Briffa making his first save of the match.

Balzan reacted and two minutes later Ivan Bozovic set Leonardo Da Silva de Souza whose attempt was saved with difficulty by goalkeeper Ini Etim Akpan.

Balan were on top right from the outset and took the lead in the 16th minute. LEONARDO Da SILVA De SOUZA showed great skill controlling the ball inside the area, rounded goalkeeper Ini Etim Akpan and fired the ball into an empty net.

In the 25th minute, Paul Fenech served Ryohei Michibuchi who headed the ball into the goalkeeper’s hand.

In the 34th minute, Frank Boateng failed to find the target with a header and two minutes later a shot from a distance by Charles Agyemang flew few inches away from the post.

Sirens struggled to react and in the 45th minute they found themselves two goals down when Andre’ Prates sent a through ball to PAUL FENECH inside the box who fired the ball past goalkeeper INI Etim Akpan.

In the second half Balzan continued where they left and six minutes into the second half the increased the score to 3-0. Alexander Cini fouled Ryhoei Michibuchi inside the box and the referee awarded a penalty to Balzan. LEONARDO Da SILVA De SOUZA converted the penalty to seal the issue with his second goal.

Balzan continued pressing and in the 57th minute Aleksandar Katanic missed a good chance from inside the box.

In the 87th minute, Sirens had the last attempt to game when Frank Boateng served Daniel Agius who’s diagonal shot hit the side netting from outside.
