Balzan achieved a major boost in a bid to evade relegation when they came from behind to see off Mosta with a result of 4-1.

It was a deserved win for Balzan who had Milan Duric and Aleksa Andrejic combining well in an offensive setup that reaped the desired fruit.

Balzan joins Floriana on the 19-point mark who now share fourth place from the bottom. Mosta, on the other hand, suffered a third consecutive defeat to remain sixth.

Balzan took the initiative in the 10th minute when following a corner taken by Milan Duric, Augustine Loof headed to ball towards Weverton Gomes Souza who was denied by goalkeeper Christoffer Henri Mafoumbi.

Mosta responded and in the 22nd minute, goalkeeper Viukasin Vranes saved well a shot from a distance by Bojan Kaljevic.

This was the prelude of a goal that put Mosta ahead a minute later. A perfect pass by Zachary Brincat found CHRIST EMEME who managed to beat the Balzan goalkeeper with a shot from just inside the area.

Three minutes later, the same player almost struck again when he received another pass from Zachary Brincat but this time he fired over.

In the 28th minute, Balzan threatened when Samir Arab served Aleksa Andrejic who however fired the ball wide.

Ten minutes from the break, Kevin Tulimieri sent a dangerous cross that finished into the path of Johann Bezzina who hit wide.

In the 40th minute, Balzan managed to draw level when Milan Duric picked ALEKSA ANDREJIC who beat Christoffer Mafoumbi at the near post.

And in first-half stoppage time, Balzan took the lead. A good run by Aleksa Andrejic ended with his low cross not being cleared by Duane Bonnici and in came MILAN DURIC who from close range tapped the ball home.

After the break, Mosta replaced Kevin Tulimieri with Michael Mifsud.

However, it was Balzan who kept the upper hand and in the 54th minute, Milan Duric played the ball inside the area finding ALEKSA ANDREJIC who fired a diagonal shot past goalkeeper Mafoumbi and into the corner of the net.

Mosta’s failed to respond and looked short of ideas. It was not a surprise that Balzan put the seal to their win in the 70th minute. Tyrone Farrugia brought Stefan Dimic down inside the area and from the penalty spot, MILAN DURIC converted.

In the 76th minute, Bojan Kaljevic could have pulled a goal back for Mosta but his downward header was palmed away by Vukasin Vranes.
