Balzan made some changes from their last outing where Ivan Janusevic, Anderson De Barros, Milos Lepovic and Dylan Grima replaced Christina Cassar and the suspended Bruno Gilio De Oliveria and Paul Fenech. On the other hand Mosta had to do without suspended Njongo Prisa and Pedro Dos Santos Calcado and injured Tyrone Farrugia while they welcomed back Chinatu Onwudinji and Lucky Oseghale together with Zachary Brincat and Josue Ahoure.
Mosta motivated by the winning of the protest against the result of the match against Pembroke, showed a lot of enthusiasm and determination in the early stages of the game. They showed the better ideas, with Lucky Oseghale giving a bad time to the Balzan defenders.
Mosta took the lead on the 21st minute when LUCKY OSEGHALE dribbled past Milos Lepovic and advanced into the box from the left and scored a stunning goal with a curking shot which gave Ivan Janusevic no chance.
Four minutes later Mosta were unlucky not to score the second goal when, after receiving a pass from Romero Cesar, David Fenech’s powerful shot from outside the box hit the crossbar with the ball bouncing on the line before being cleared to safety.
From there on Balzan took the initiative and forced Mosta to defend for the rest of the game.
In the 33nd minute Balzan equalised when, off a corner taken by Alan da Silva Souza who served close-by Ryan Fenech, the latter sent a cross which ALFRED EFFIONG headed home past goalkeeper Andreas Vella.
Soon afterwards, Balzan appealed for a penalty when Mosta defender on the ground, handled the ball following a cross by Matteo Piciollo but the referee waved play on.
Ten minutes later Balzan took the lead when after dribbling past a defender Alan da Silva Souza served BOJAN KALJEVIC who from an ideal position hit a stunning shot past goalkeeper Andreas Vella.
Early in the second half, Mosta earned a corner from which David Fenech had a good rising shot going just over.
In the 53rd minute, Balzan increased the lead further thanks to MATTEO PICCIOLLO who received a through pass and beat goalkeeper Andreas Vella with a well-placed shot from the left.
On the 62nd minute, Balzan increased the margin when BOJAN KALJEVIC scored his second personal goal after connecting a through pass from Clive Brincat before slotting the ball past Andreas Vella.
Balzan scored a fifth goal on the 73rd minute thanks to ALAN DA SILVA SOUZA who after receiving an assist on the right, managed to dribble past a defender and sent a powerful drive that gave Andreas Vella no chance
Three minutes later, substitute LYDON MICALLEF, when served by Matteo Piciollo from the left, took advantage of an erratic back pass by a defender and fired a shot the goalkeeper failed to hold with the ball ending at the back of the net.
In the 87th minute a second goal by LYDON MICALLEF sealed the issue at 7 – 1 when he took advantage of a bad clearance of the goalkeeper and finished the ball home.
