Balzan FC announced that they have reached an agreement with coach Paul Zammit to part ways.
Paul Zammit joined Balzan in October 2021, taking over from Mark Miller.
Despite a positive start, winning three out of the first five matches, they lost nine out of the following twelve matches.
With three games left to play, when they found themselves second from the bottom, in April 2022, Balzan FC announced that they have reached an agreement with coach Paul Zammit to part ways at the end of season 2021/2022.
Alejandro Pantoja, who already led the team in their game in the play-out against Valletta, will continue to lead the team for the final two matches against Sirens and Sliema Wanderers.
Paul Zammit started his coaching career with Mosta but left the club in October 2005 to join Valletta.
In summer 2009, he joined Birkirkara on a two-year deal. At the end of his contract, he was not retained but in October 2011, he was re-appointed to the post.
Zammit moved to Valletta in 2015, where he spent two seasons.
He rejoined Birkirkara in 2017, however, in January 2019 he was forced out, following the appointment of John Arne Riise as technical director.
In January 2020 Zammit joined Gzira United but stepped down at the end of season 2020/2021.
