Balzan extended their positive run to seven matches as they scored three goals in the second half to beat Sirens 3-1.

Balzan outplayed Sirens in stile, keeping alive their chance to play in the European Conference League next season, as they joined Mosta and Hibernians in fourth place.

For this game Balzan made some changes from their last match in the FA Trophy match against Birkirkara. Goalkeeper Jonathan Debono, Alex Satariano, Matheus Nogureira Abulguerque de Sousa, Nicola Braunovic, and Nikola Zerjal were included in his starting line-up, while Ivan Bozovic was missing serving a match suspension. On the other end, Sirens had to do without the suspended players Amarah Ayo Vaikainah and Stephane Sessegon.

Balzan made the brighter start in the opening period. After only two minutes, Alexander Satariano had his first attempt from inside the box but the ball finished out.

In the 10th minute, the Matheus Nogureira Abulguerque de Sousa cleverly dribbled past his marker to volley from close range, but the Sirens goalkeeper Matthew Grech saved with difficulty in two attempts.

In the 23rd minute, Matheus de Sousa, made his way  again into the box but his final shot was weak and could be easily be saved by the goalkeeper.

A minute before the break, Alexander Satariano had to leave the pitch injured and was substituted by Bojan Kaljevic

The first half finished with the score still 0-0.

In the 1st minute of the second half Balzan took the lead. ANGEL YESID TORRES QUINONES dribbled his way into the box in fashion to hit a low drive behind goalkeeper Matthew Grech.

In the 57th minute, in another impressive move Angel Torres passed the ball to substitute BOJAN KALJEVIC who did not fail to finish home from close range.

In the 59th minute, despite Sirens’s introduction of attacker Kei Sano, their reaction remained on a low-key.

In the 78th minute, Angel Torres sent in a low ball for Bojan Kaljevic but his rising shot finished out.

In the 88th minute, Bojan Kaljevic provided a perfect ball to ANGEL YESID TORRES QUINONES who made no mistake to grab his second and Balzan’s third goal.

Sirens pulled one back in the added time as ADRIAN BORG found the net from close-range.
