Balzan was very unlucky to miss a penalty and hit the posts twice to succumb to defeat which left them in ninth place while Mosta climbed to sixth in the Premier League standings

The first opportunity to goal came to Mosta in the 8th minute when off a free-kick by Clayton Failla, goalkeeper Jonathan Debono saved to corner a header by Zachary Brincat.

Following the resulting corner kick, Mosta took the lead. Christ Ememe broke free on the left but was fouled by by Matheus da Sousa inside the area. From the ensuing penalty, CLAYTON FAILLA did not fail to convert.

In the 20th minute, Balzan has a good chance to level matter. Angel Yesid Torres Quinone, an increasingly prominent presence in the game, dribbled his way past the Mosta defence and was brought down by Jake Vassallo in the area. Alex Satariano took the penalty but he failed to convert as his effort finished well over the crossbar.

In the 25th minute, Balzan had another good chance to level matters. Matheus de Sousa whipped in a teasing cross, but Marcus Grima shot just wide.

Balzan continued dominating the game but Mosta managed to keep the score in their favour till the end of the first half.

In the second half Balzan continued where they left and couldn’t be better because after only one minute they managed to level matters. Angel Torres could not be contained and his brilliant through ball released MATHEUS NOGUREIRA ALBUGUERQUE DE SOUZA who caught the Mosta defence completely unaware before he lobbed the ball over the onrushing goalkeeper Ini Etim Akpan.

Balzan continued to push forward and in the 50th minute goalkeeper Ini Etim akpan pushed the ball into corner a shot by Angel Torres.

In another breakaway, on the 56th minute, Alexander Satariano ran clear through the middle, before shooting straight at the onrushing goalkeeper’s hand.

Balzan remained the better side and deserved more in the second half.

Just past the hour, in another magic moment of Angel Torres dribbled past his opponents, rounded Jacob Nii Martey Akrong before unleashing a fierce shot that finished thumbing against the cross bar.

In the 77th minute, Samir Arab sent a cross from the left to the far post where substitute Bojan Kaljevic rose to power a header against the post.

Balzan had to pay for all these lost chances. What they failed to do Mosta did in the 80th minute.

Against the way of play, in a rare counter attack they won a free-kick on the left side. Clayton Failla sent a cross into the box where he found unmarked CHRIST EMEME, to head home past the goalkeeper.
