Balzan came from behind twice to beat Mosta, with Angel Yesid Torres Quinones proving to be Balzan’s hero once again as he scored two second-half goals to hand Balzan the three important points.

Balzan now climbed into the third place, keeping their hopes running in the race for participating in the European Conference League.

With only two matches left to play, Birkirkara are in second place with 47 points, followed by Balzan with 43 points, Gzira and Hibernians have 42 points each and Mosta with 40 points.

In the first half Mosta produced good football but a red card shown to Precious Linus Tenebe in the first half proved costly for them as they had to face Balzan with a man down in the second half.

In the16th minute, goalkeeper Ini Akpan made two saves over attempts by Nikolas Zerjal and Alexander Satariano.

However Mosta imposed their game better having more possession and managed to take the lead in the 25th minute. Zachary Brincat, picked up a ball in the midfield and played a through ball towards Christ Ememe who served unmarked DUANE BONNICI to finish into an empty net.

In the 32nd minute, Balzan replied when Alexander Satariano forced Ini Akpan to make a good save, diverting the ball into a corner.

In the 38th minute, Ini Akpan save with difficulty a direct corner kick taken by Aleksa Andrejic.

Balzan managed to level matters in the 43rd minute. Angel Yesid Torres Quinones made his way into the box with Precious Linus Tenebe flooring him and denying an obvious goal, with the referee awarding a penalty and giving him the marching orders with a direct red card.

From the penalty spot BOJAN KALJEVIC made no mistake. Mosta were now facing an entire second half with a player less.

In the second half, Christ Ememe came close to putting Mosta ahead once again when he struck a shot from inside the penalty area but goalkeeper Jonathan Debono was alert to avert the danger.

The Mosta striker let fly another shot past the hour mark but jonathan Debono managed to block his effort once again.

In the 59th minute, A direct corner kick by Clayton Failla hit the cross-bar and the ball was cleared by the defenders.

However, in the 70th minute, Mosta regained the lead. A freekick taken by CLAYTON FAILLA hit the barrier. The rebound fell to the same player who immediately fired a brilliant volley from the edge of the area with goalkeeper Jonathan Debono helpless.

In the 73rd minute, Balzan captain Paul Fenech tried his luck from a distance with the ball finishing scraping the crossbar.

Nonetheless, in the 74th minute Balzan managed to level matters when Balzan’s top scorer ANGEL YESID TORRES QUINONES managed to beat Ini Akpan with a curling shot from the edge of the area.

This was not enough, as five minutes later, ANGEL YESID TORRES QUINONES completed his brace when he dribbled his way into Mosta’s penalty area before beating Ini Akpan from an acute angle, notching the winner.

The score remained 2-3 till the final whistle with Balzan taking home the three important points.
