For this game Balzan lacked the services of their striker Bojan Kaljevic, midfielder Nenad Sljivic and defender Steven Bezzina as well as the suspended Ricardo Correa. On the other hand Qormi retained more or less the same formation as that which beat Senglea last week.

As was widely predicted, Balzan dominated possession for most of the time and although Qormi defended well and appeared to be well organised even in midfield, it was evident that it would be difficult for them to retaliate against a superior outfit.

Balzan opened the score on the 41st minute when Lubos Adamec floored Andrija Majdevac inside the penalty area and the referee awarded Balzan a penalty. From the spot, CARLOS EDUARDO DE FIORI MENDES did not fail to transform.

Balzan doubled the score on the 56th minute when IVAN BOZOVIC managed to beat goalkeeper Jamie Azzopardi with a low shot.

Balzan increased the score on the 65th minute. After receiving a pass from Uros Ljubomirac ANDRIJA MAJDEVAC rounded goalkeeper Azzopardi and placed the ball inside the net.

On the 71st minute Qormi pulled one back. Following a defensive blunder by Balzan’s defenders, substitute LUKE BUSUTTIL finished home from close range.

However, Balzan sealed the issue five minutes later. ALEX DA PAIXAO ALVES received the ball from Andrija Majdevac and placed it inside an open net.

Qormi did not give up and during the additional time they scored a consolation goal. Following a free-kick, TENSIOR GUZMAN headed the ball behind Steve Sultana.
