On Monday 19th June 2017 the draws of the UEFA Competitions were held at the UEFA Headquarters in Nyon, Switzerland.

Balzan FC were drawn to play the preliminary round of the UEFA Europa League against Videoton FC of Hungary. Balzan will be playing their first leg away from home at the “Pancho Arena” in Telki in Hungary on Thursday 29th June 2017. K.O at 20.45.  The return home match is scheduled to be played on Tuesday 4th July 2017 at the Hibernians Stadium in Paola . K.O 17.45.

 

Videoton Football Club are based in Székesfehérvár, in the west of Hungary. Videoton FC was founded in 1941 and its colours are blue and red. In Season 2016/2017 they finished in the second place of the Hungarian top football league.

They won the Hungarian League twice in 2011 and 2015, Hungarian Cup once, the defunct Hungarian League Cup three times, and the Hungarian Super Cup twice. Videoton is best known in Europe for reaching the 1985 UEFA Cup Final.

The most successful period in Videoton’s history came in the mid-1980s when Ferenc Kovács led the club to the final of the UEFA Cup in 1985. They won its first Hungarian League title in 2011 and managed to reach the group stages of the Europa League in the 2012/13 season.
