Balzan created the better chances throughout the 90 minutes but were unable to convert their efforts into goals while Mosta operated with counterattacks, punishing them with a Bojan Kaljevic brace and a goal from Divine Yelsarmba Naah. The result does not do justice with Balzan, luck was not on their side.

Although Balzan dominated the first 45 minutes, Mosta stunned them during their first time effort and managed to preserve their one-goal lead until the half-time interval.

The first chance came in the 10th minute to Aleksa Andrejic who almost struck for Balzan but his firm shot from the edge of the area was diverted into a corner.

In the 13th minute, against the way of play, Mosta took the lead. Following a swift counterattack, BOJAN KALJEVIC managed to beat goalkeeper Vukasin Vranes with a long-range effort.

Mosta opted to defend and Balzan kept pushing after the goal and Stefan Dimic lost a good opportunity when he dribbled his way into the penalty area but he finally fired straight into Stephan Bitseki’s hands.

In an isolated counter-attack, a fierce shot from long-range by Divine Yelsarmba Naah finished over the crossbar.

In the closing stages of the first half, Stefan Dimic missed a couple of quick chances, with the two shots coming from the edge of the box finishing wide.

Aleska Andrejic had the final chance of the first half when he dribbled his way into the box, fired a shot but failed to find the target.

Mosta came out better and in the 47th minute, they once again found the net when DIVINE YELSARMBA NAAH managed to beat Vukasin Vranes from the edge of the area.

A few minutes later, Mosta’s defender Rafael Morisco attempted his traditional long-range free-kick but the ball finished high.

In the 58th minute, Mosta were awarded a penalty for a handball in the area by defender Michael Johnson. However, goalkeeper Vukasin Vranes denied Rafael Morisco from the spot.

Balzan took the initiative back into their hands and moments later they almost pulled one back through Stefan Dimic but goalkeeper Stephane Bitseki managed to block his close-range chance.

Milan Duric forced Bitseki into action again as the goalkeeper diverted his effort into a corner.

In the 73rd minute, Balzan pulled one back. A header by Eric McWoods struck the crossbar before Mosta defender Dejan Debono deviated the rebound into his own net.

Balzan remained the better team on the field with Aleksa Andrejic having another go at goal but his header scaped the crossbar.

Yet again, luck was in Mosta’s favour as in the 80th minute they managed to find the third goal to seal the issue. Bojan Kaljevic exchanged the ball with Michael Mifsud, with BOJAN KALJEVIC finally slotting the ball past goalkeeper Vukasin Vranes.
